Tracy Morgan is getting back to stand-up comedy with Staying Alive, a new Netflix special set to debut May 16.

The special, filmed in New Jerseys Count Basie Theatre, will focus on Morgans attempts to find the funny in the aftermath of his near-fatalaccidentin July 2014, which left him with a traumatic brain injury and a two percent chance of living.

Morgan has slowly but surely been making his way back into the spotlight in the time since, first with a nationwide stand-up tour last year calledPicking Up the Pieces,and more recently with a role in the Ice Cube and Charlie Day comedyFist Fight, which premiered earlier this month.

In addition to the Netflix special, hes currently slated to appear as Redd Foxx in the upcoming Richard Pryor biopic,Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?, as well as in a starring role on aTBS series created by Jordan Peele.

Morgan is the latest to join a star-studdedlineup of Netflix comedy specialsdebuting in the coming months from stars such as Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Louis C.K., and Jerry Seinfeld.
