SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have watched Sundays episode ofThe Walking Dead, The Cell.

To call Dwights (Austin Amelio) lot in life complicated would be an understatement.

He seemed like a decent dude.

But then he stole Daryls (Norman Reedus) motorcycle and crossbow, making him seem significantly less decent.

Then he shot Daryl and seemedwaaaaytoo eager to kill him after Daryl struck Negan.

Again, less than decent.

It turns out Dwights life was spared after his wife Sherry agreed to marry Negan.

He also took an iron to the face as punishment for stealing medicine.

We spoke to the man who plays him to get his take on the Dwight deep dive.

(Also verify tocheck out our interview with Norman Reedus.)

AUSTIN AMELIO:Extremely excited.

Whats going through his mind there?

So I think hes just kind of getting lost in thought about that.

I think thats kind of like a running theme with him.

Also, that walker is like… what a gnarly walker, you know?

But then it turns out youdidbring him back and you put him on the fence as a zombie.

So what does that say about Dwight at this point?

There are a lot of fascinating relationships happening here.

Lets start with Dwight and Daryl.

And Daryls a guy that tried to help Dwight when they first met.

He came back for them to give them the medicine.

Is that just to justify his own decision in doing so himself?

Theres a lot of stuff at play here.

For one, Ive been commanded by Negan to torture this guy.

Also, its not easy on me.

Its not an easy thing to watch.

You were thinking about someone else.

Thats a heavy moment.

What was it like working with Norman Reedus on this episode?

I love working with him.

He sees her getting a pregnancy test and then again in the stairwell.

What is he feeling when he sees her in these scenes?

Is it disgust with himself, or shame, or something else?

He says to her, We did the right thing.

Its a hell of a lot better than being dead, butIm not sure he honestly believes that.

No, I dont think he does either, and Ill talk about that scene first.

I think what hes trying to do is comfort himself and her in that moment.

Its a tough decision.

I mean, like, God, what a disaster!

Its the worst timing ever.

That stuffs happening, but then theres physical proof that its happening, and its disgusting.

Yeah, not great timing.

And then there is his relationship with Negan, a guy who stole his wife and ironed his face.

Is Negan messing with Dwight here, or testing him?

What does Dwight make of having to deal with that?

So I cant do that.

Ive got to swallow my pride.

Its a weird relationship between me and him.

Its like a double-edged sword.

Whats it like working with Jeffrey Dean Morgan?

Whats it like in some of those scenes where hes being emotionally aggressive with your character?

I mean, you just go on!

And hes relentless with me, you know what Im saying?

Like, he just keeps going and going.

Like, Oh, here, free women for you!

Is your penis okay?

And then he just keeps going, and youre like, Oh my God, man!

But really, its an absolute pleasure working with him.

Hes awesome and hes very charismatic and docile, and hes like, Can I do anything?

Can I help you out?

And its just great, man.

I get to work with some of the best, so its awesome.

At that point when I booked it, I didnt have time to do any of that stuff.

I had about four or five days to get down here and start shooting.

So it was startling and a bit nerve-wracking and amazing all at the same time.
