The fate of Fillory hangs in the balance must be Wednesday

The Magiciansis a very unpredictable show.

Thats part of the shows appeal.

All of this stuff didnt need any added explanation.

It feels like the nature of Embers involvement came a little bit too late.

You remember how everyones book in the library had 20 blank pages?

Well, this is why.

This shouldnt come as a surprise, but these moments often feature Eliot and/or Julia.

Well, the first one involves both of them.

Eliot pays Julia a visit to ask for an amulet that can hide him from a god.

His invitation surprises her given her past betrayal, but Eliot points out that was so long ago.

And hes right about that.

Its not the same.

Lets not pretend it is, says Margo, which is a very mature observation on her part.

If theres one thingThe Magiciansneeds to work on next season, its Margo.

Ember pops in and is pleasantly surprised that Eliot has returned to Fillory after being banished.

Thats when Julia enters with the snow globe containing Umbers pocket universe and releases Umber into the reunion.

Ember realizes Umber betrayed him so you can stay alive and retaliates by killing him.

the creators of the universe.

Its fairly chilling sequence due to the slanted cinematography and the fact that the plumber doesnt say a word.

Moreover, this twist follows through on the threat from the premiere.

For all of the shows whimsy, its clear thatThe Magicianshas been building to this devastating twist.

And its immediately clear from the two month jump forward that the loss of magic is very devastating.

Now everywhere from Brakebills to Fillory looks as dreary as Brakebills, South Antarctica.

Overall, I enjoyedThe Magiciansseason 2 a lot more than I did the first season.

Moreover, dividing time between Fillory and Earth sometimes stretched the show a bit too much.
