And even though the episodes are standalone stories, showrunner Andrew Dabb sees the two-hour slot as an opportunity.
Coming out of the finale, people will have a pretty good idea of where things are going.

When season 12 ends, Dabb hopes theyve created a finale thats a bit of both.
Butwhatis happening in the finale isnt the only draw.
Theres also the matter ofhowits happening.
Like some of thebest episodes before it, this one will get a little meta.
Finales, by definition, cant go too crazy, Dabb says.
But I will say this: Its by far the most meta finale weve ever done.
There are some twists coming that weve never done before.
Supernaturals season finale airs Thursday at 8 p.m.
