I dont think youll ever have 100 percent or any punch in of certainty about it.
Adnan Syed
Your honor, the podcast rests.
The back and forth hasnt let up, after all of this time, she confided to the audience.
Syed asked her, during one of their very recent phone conversations.
I mean… do I have an ending?, she asked, half rhetorically.
Of course I have an ending, she promised.
But first, she shared some new information, including one potential bombshell.
The other season-finale twist, if you will, was the introduction of Don, Lees boyfriend.
(Don hadnt even known about Jay until he started listening to the podcast.)
As a result of his initial silence, some listeners had chalked him up as a potential suspect.
Josh painted a picture that confirmed Jays claims that Adnan was threatening him during the police investigation.
Or were they both lying?
I think you should just go down the middle, he said.
In a sense, you leave it up the audience to determine.
As a juror, I vote to acquit Adnan Syed, she finally concluded.
I have to acquit.
Thats what the law requires of jurors.
…Even IF, in my heart of hearts, I think Adnan killed Hae,…
I interpreted that if as not being a hypothetical, so I almost gasped when she said that.
People have questioned whySerialcant extend this season until a more definite conclusion can be reached.
But I figure a year of anyones life is enough time spent digging into a 15-year-old crime.
She and her team have done their jobsas journalists, as storytellersand done them well.
Thats the place where we all are now.
Hes guilty or innocent.
In those competing mindsets, hes either a manipulative monster or a tragically unfortunate victim of circumstance.
