And then there is John Simcoe.

And hes completely dedicated to his King and his own moral compass.

The real Simcoe survived the war, butTurnhas toyed with history before.

In fact,Turns creatorCraig Silverstein seriously considered killing Simcoe off in the pilot.

Thank goodness he didnt.

In advance of Saturday nights series finale (9 p.m. Its not okay to root for Simcoe, but you might miss him when hes gone.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Congrats on creating one of TVs most delicious villains.

Even though hes the Bad Guy, Ive come to enjoy and trust Simcoe more than anyone else inTurn.

And thats been really fun.

Also, hes a complex guy.

Hes a man of contradictions.

Anyone can open a history book to see how the Revolutionary conflict ends.

And they can also discover that Simcoe survived the war to become a notable historical figure in Canada.

And certainly, when youre not the victor, what are you going to do with yourself afterwards?

How do you move forward from that?

and Youareaware that the streets named after him!

We have a lake!

And of course Im aware, and hopefully, were dealing with that.

The same can be said for people in general.

Generally, the first thing people say to me when they meet me is I hate you.

Thats how it always starts.

Then theyre like, But I love you.

I could probably add others to that list.

Is there a No.

2 are they all equal in priority?

in terms of his hit-list?I think his oldest feud is with Woodhull.

He never finished that job off.

Thats his current top kill.

But also the Hewlett feud is so deep and heavy at this point.

And he kind of let the Hewlett thing go.

Hes like, All right, hes gone back to England, let sleeping dogs die.

Then the dude comes back and frankly needs dealing with.

Caleb, I think hes already beaten, in his mind.

Hes already taken him down, even without killing him.

Its a completely memorable day because it was also the day that my second son was born.

Our baby was born.

What happened was, my wife went into labor literally as we wrapped on the mornings work.

I made it to the hospital with like 30 minutes to go to my son being born.

So anyway, I went back on set.

So a baby was born, and Simcoe dispatched a soldier at the same time.

That was a really kind of perfect day, and Ill never forget that.

I dont know why, but it became emblematic for me of the show finishing.

And it was written incredibly by LaToya Morgan, just a beautifully crafted scene.

Whats been the impact of Simcoe on your other work?

That would be like saying, I dont want to play complex characters.
