Now, 12 years later, Lauer is re-creating the interview… but taking on the role of Cruise.

When the re-creation ended, Lauer made sure to defendThe Mummystar.

We are friends, he shared.

I think he got such a bum rap for that.

And to be honest, he was a real Mensch after that.

He came and he apologized and we had a great time.
