KOEPP:[The scene was] based on a nightmare I had… Its a classic aging dream.
One of [my kids] asked me once what the scariest idea for a horror film would be.
Without hesitation, I said aging, because it is.

Artisan Entertainment
Your body will betray and desert you.
When I look at this scene, I see someones body falling apart before their eyes.
I know Id do the same thing if I were him.
Everythings crumbling around him… without your teeth, youre a shadow of your former self.
… and that bloody tendril that lingers on Bacons finger?
KOEPP:That was just lucky!
He knows enough as an actor when hes got a good thing going, tokeepgoing…
I was behind the monitor trying not to giggle.
BACON:[Laughs] Its amazing!
That was a happy accident, it was fing fantastic…
When it comes to horror, Im drawn to things that are chilling in their simplicity.
That wasnt the only happy accident.
Bacon accidentally kicked a bucket through a window, too.
BACON:I wasnt supposed to kick the bucket, but it was there, and I kicked it!
Ive never played a game of soccer in my life, and it wasnota breakaway window.
KOEPP:He couldnt have done that kick in 100 tries.
[The studio] said, No, we read that.
Its soft, and no ones going to go to that.
Well, dont you want to be thefirstpsychic movie rather than the second?
They said no, and then [The Sixth Sense] becameThe Sixth Sense[laughs].
They came out in August, we were in September!
[But] Im happy with the movie in the long run.
Were still here talking about it, 20 years later.
BACON:Overshadowed is 100 percent an understatement.
It was a terrible mistake on the part of the studio…
It was, in my opinion, a really dumb move.
The thing is, we didnt get an explanation for it… We know what were doing.
And this was a case of that.
I wanted to call itDig!
