Im too used to injuries, he admits.
But if I want to keep making movies, I have to change.

So thats why Im saying I have to change.
After all these decades, Im sure youll understand, Im always changing, looking for a good story.
What about the story itself attracted you to this role?
Did you read the novel?Yes.
And I really liked the story, I liked the character.
But even then, this method of revenge isnt good either, you know?
Its not the best solution.
I hope through this film people will understand that violence shouldnt be the only answer.
You cant say, you screwed with me and now that youve done that Im going to also hurtyourpeople.
Thats not right either.
So my fighting style in this has to be believable.
Hes old, so in the beginning Im walking slowly.
How intense were those fight scenes?
Any injuries?Im too used to injuries.
To me, if you dont end up in the hospital, then those dont count as injuries.
Lets talk about your character a little more.
Why isnt it possible for the world to find peace?
We cant let a small group of people hurt this many people.
Thats why I filmed this….
The Manchester bombing hadnt happened yet when we were filming.
After we finished, it happened.
So filming this was a chance to talk about peace.
We, all of us, need peace, for build a peaceful world and live a peaceful life.
I filmed that, and then I looked around and saw there were bombings everywhere….
I really think, if what I do can help spread peace, then Im happy!
Even that I feel like would be a positive effect on the world.
Wait, so you know how to build a bomb?Oh, no, no, no.
I dont know how tobuildthem, thats way too hard.
[Laughs] Its just for appearances.
Hes even more hard-working than I am.
[Laughs] He works hard, hes always prepared.
Pierce Brosnan, well, hes excellent, very focused on his work.
And he said, No, Im going back to bed, and I said What?!
You came here just to help me rehearse?!
So I felt, I thought my partners and collaborators were very professional, very hardworking.
I was very happy.
We worked together really well.
And on top of that, I want tocontinue singing songs.
Its all to demonstrate that I can do more [than fighting].
The Foreignerarrives in theaters October 13.
