Tell us about the show.
You put these contestants into a house and take away everything that was invented after 99, right?
So shock, horror no smartphones?
They unplug from the world.
I love social experiments like this.Big Brotheris my favorite show and this really reminded me of it.
That was really encouraging to see; they actually had to talk to each other.
CM:Right, theres no cell phones, no social media.
They can have a pager and they have regular phones that are hooked up to the walls.
They have AOL chatrooms, but who wants to sit there and wait for dial-up?
Those were the days.
So then you set them 90s-centric challenges?
How does that play out?
LB:Each episode, therell be a couple of challenges that are very 90s.
We bring in amazing cameos like Salt-N-Pepa and the cast ofSaved by the Belland Nickelodeon stars.
Whether its shooting a music video or an opening to a sitcom, theyre there to help.
Then Christina and myself judge the outcomes and we decide who leaves that week.
And the contestants are too young to really remember the 90s, right?
LB:Theyre all 21 to 26 years old.
They can sound cool and label themselves as 90s babies all day, but did they truly experience it?
No, they were too young.
CM:Every era ends up repeating itself and coming back.
Things are just constantly regurgitated in a cooler way and adapted to the time.
LB:Im just glad Im finally ahead of a trend for once.
Whats your big standout memory from the 90s?
Lets go through some of your favorite things from the 90s.
If you had to pick a TV show, which would it be?
LB:Will & Gracewas my ultimate.
Im so excited its coming back.
Im finally out now so I can doWill & Grace!
CM:In Living Colorwas pretty epic.
That was another great example of the variety of people and characters in one spot.
It was a really great show.
What about a movie?
LB:Cluelesswas amazing andArmageddon Im a big space nerd so I was really into that.
A song or favorite group?
It was the only song I would listen to on repeat on my tape player.
Im still a big Aerosmith fan too.
CM:TLC were great.
I really loved theirFanMailalbum.
Was there a gadget you had to have?
CM:I was all about my pager.
LB:Yes, two-way pagers!
Those were really amazing.
And a fashion item?
LB:I loved [Nike] Air Force Ones or a G-Shock watch.
In the house, Christina and I have to dress in 90s clothing.
Just you wait, basically I looked like Screech and Chucky had a baby and that was my style.
But so comfortable, right?
LB:Oh, yeah, like wearing pajamas.
CM:And its legit 90s clothing were wearing.
I still do it now, it never stopped.
I never got over it.
