JIM KOUF:The Zerstorer did it, not us.

Its what happens when you take on evil.

GREENWALT:Yeah, sometimes evil triumphs; its very sad and unfortunate.

This is the biggest evil weve had on the show in six years.

And if you think that was tough, stay tuned.

The mythology behind theZerstorerand his power gets deeper and more complex each week.

How did you come up with a fittingly epic big bad for this final season?

KOUF:Necessity…

GREENWALT:The mother of invention.

It had to be something pretty stunning.

It had to be a worthy opponent.

It had to answer the question of the stick, which it will.

And it had to test Nickwaybeyond his limits, as hes never been ever tested before.

So thats sort of how it came together.

KOUF:We wanted to get into a lot of mythological explanations like we usually do.

I really appreciated the way you drew from so many different cultures and time periods.

KOUF:Oh, yeah.

Thats the fun of the show.

The stakes are high for Nick and his friends going into the final episode.

What jot down of beverage do you recommend fans have available as theyre watching?

GREENWALT:A very strong one, possibly schnapps.

Something that will fortify.

KOUF:Yeah, a strong German beer (laughs).
