Everyone at Grey Sloan is engaged in a private war this week.

(Though considering the episode is titled Civil War, Im not sure what else we could expect.)

Of course part of this is Richards annoyance that Catherine woulddareto watchHamiltonin Chicago without him.

Catherine tells Richard to step in, but he says that Jacksons got it.

But Jackson just responds that his mother wont stop because she wants things her way.

Back in an on-call room, Catherine asks Richard to come home and get a good night of sleep.

He tells her he didnt want to come between her and Jackson.

He then sleeps in the on-call room.

She wishes him a good night and leaves.

(They also plan on seeingHamiltonand going on a boat tour, which Ben says is lovely.

So, you know, theres that.)

He says that Richards methods create artists, while Minnicks method makes robots.

She says thatshemay have taken his fathers name, but that its what she did with it that counts.

She then rounds out her critique by calling him an outstanding surgeon.

This specifically seems to upset Jackson further.

Catherine disagrees, saying, Im happy with the man youve become.

I just wish you were too.

This causes Jackson to storm off.

Back home, April sees him watching a throat surgery.

She points out that the Foundation offers her opportunities.

But McSteaming-Mad just stomps away.

(Side note: Remember those nicknames?

(Sort of.)

This places both parents and DeLuca, who is the resident assigned to Alex, in the middle.

(Side note: Dont worry, Alex checked beforehand on whether DeLuca was cool with it.)

This causes Meredith to pull Riggs aside and ask why hes being a jerk with Alex.

In response, the heart surgeon points out that shes hinting that thereissomewhere to get with her.

So then Riggs gets mad, saying he doesnt need to prove anything, and he walks away.

DeLuca, of course, is vexed by the whole situation.

And its a good thing, too, because there is a heart thats available!

Of course Alex is mad at this turn of events and calls Maggie in to consult.

But she rightly points out that this fight is not between Riggs and Alex, but ratherforBaby Gus life.

So Alex listens, and he and DeLuca perform the surgery.

Then he accuses her of being a jerk and tells her he cant stop thinking about her.

However, shes jumpy the whole time because shes avoiding Owen.

So Amelia doesnt have a lookout for when shes going into the E.R.

(There is also some talk of buying floss.)

Only her floss-centered lie quickly falls apart when Maggie thanks her for her help in front of Owen.

She admits that she hadnt.

Except for, perhaps, this wedded union.

Owen does come back and ask Amelia if she wants to even be married.

She says yes, but that shes not ready for the fight theyll have because they want different things.

The next morning she sees him leave and watches sadly as he continues walking.

So in the end, it seems like Mer is right.

There are no winners in a civil war.
