Where were you when you found out about the nomination?
I was in my bed.
Then the phone starts buzzing and you want to reply to people as its happening.
Whats been the most exciting reaction people in your life have had so far?
I was really, really thrilled for her.
YourcostarsCourtney B. Vance, Sterling K. Brown, and John Travolta were also nominated.
What do you want to say to them today?
[I told] Sterling how proud and excited I am for him.
What an exciting, thrilling thing to be [nominated].
He has such a wonderful attitude and hes got so much in his life that is so full.
Its been a very exciting time.
I havent talked to John or Courtney yet but Im sure I will by the end of the day.
This is your third Golden Globe nomination.
Everyone has been raving about your performance as Marcia Clark.
Did you have a feeling that you were going to be nominated?
I always feel uncomfortable with expecting things like that.
Certainly everything leading up to it led me to think that it could happen.
I dont ever want to lose the joy, excitement, and thrill of feeling a part of something.
Every time it happens, all it makes me feel is that I get to keep doing it.
Thats the most exciting part about it.
How is this Golden Globe nomination different for you in this chapter of your career?
This is my first nomination for leading actress.
Ive always felt very grateful to them for being the first people to recognize me that way.
This one, as leading actress, it feels really nice.
I feel very special, and its different because its leading actress and thats never happened to me before.
Its a pinch-me moment.
It definitely is a pinch-me moment.
That is something I am very proud to be associated with.
I think it helped people realize how misguided they were in their assessments of Marcia.
And I feel very proud to be associated with that shift.
Thats got to make her feel good.
I feel very proud to have been part of that.
You mentioned that youre heading to work.
Are you going to celebrate in some way today or do something special for yourself?
How did your sweetheart congratulate you?
[Laughs] Shes in New York so shes probably just waking up.
Shes doing a play so she sleeps a little bit later.
You know, Im obviously up a little bit more early than I would normally be.
I think she deserves the moon & sun @EW @MsSarahPaulson.
