James Gunnhas been reinstated by Walt Disney Studios as the director ofGuardians of the Galaxy Vol.
3, EW has confirmed.
The filmmaker will go into production on the movie after completing work onSuicide Squad 2.

Gunn directed the first twoGuardiansfilms as well as co-writing 2014sGuardians of the Galaxyand writing 2017sGuardian of the Galaxy Vol.
Friday on Twitter, Gunn expressed his gratitude to fans.
I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be.

In an interview with EW last week,Guardianscast memberDave Bautistahinted that Gunn would return toGuardians 3.
Also, his phone was ringing the day after with Marvel.
So, hes bouncing back big time.
It turned out to be literally one week.
For myself as well, I will ride off his coattails of vindication, Bautista said.
And dont believe I wont rub it into a few peoples faces, because he deserves it.
And hes a good, decent person.
