The producers approached me about possibly writing forDoctor Who.
They said, Weve got this other thought brewing, maybe a spin-off set in Coal Hill School.
I immediately just went, Ding!
The Doctors granddaughter went there in 1963.
Its sort of about, what happens when the Doctor leaves?
He comes in as a hero but he cant stay everywhere.
So, what happens in the aftermath of aDoctor Whoepisode?
Thats basically the idea.
Its kind of like aDeep Space Nine, in that it stays and things come to it.
OnDoctor Who, they have their adventure and then they leave.
And Peter Capaldi appears on the show?He does.
Hes in episode 1.
I dont care for cameos, so it had to be a proper guest-starring role.
He looks human but he is an alien, he is different, and I find that really fruitful.
I find that tension interesting.
Presumably, there will be monsters and creatures and strange beings.There will.
So, whole new sets of monsters, because the universe is unimaginably big.
